Series 9 (2025)

In accordance with the theme of “Global Lincoln,” this year’s Lincoln Leads promises a whistlestop tour of the most relevant topics across all four corners of the globe.

On February 11, Dr. Rahul Roy-Chaudhury (IISS Senior Fellow for South and Central Asian Defence, Strategy and Diplomacy) is joined by Dr. Roel Konijnendijk (Darby Fellow in Ancient History) and Abhishek Saha (DPhil Migration Studies) to discuss the state of security on the Indian subcontinent, looking both backwards into the past and forwards into the region’s dynamic and multiplex future.

On February 25, Lincoln Leads’ founder Heather Mann (UNESCO) returns to discuss how AI is reshaping society. She is joined by Kimberly Palladino (Tutorial Fellow in Physics) and Micon Garvilles (DPhil in Cellular and Molecular Medicine) to tackle the myriad ways in which artificial intelligence is changing how we understand and interact with history, science, and medicine.

On March 4, former US Ambassador Michelle Gavin (Council on Foreign Relations) returns to her alma mater to recount the past year’s worth of elections in Africa, and explain the uncertain but important future of the continent through a political lens. She is joined by Stefan Enchelmaier (Berrow Foundation Professor of Law) and Nyasha Mukonoweshuro (MPhil in Development Studies), who will round out the discussion by offering thoughts on the West African Economic Union and transitional justice in the post-colonial African context.

Our last event of the term will spotlight two MCR speakers: Dr. Kathryn Woodward (DPhil Primary Care) and Robert McDonald (DPhil in Mathematics). Their discussion on March 11 will tackle the complexities of development, touching on Dr. Woodward’s research on rural populations in Australia, and the role of mathematical modelling in public policymaking for global health, based on McDonald’s current studies.
