The Global Health Equation: Balancing Policy and Development

Dr. Kathryn Woodward is an Australian trained doctor, Rhodes Scholar and DPhil student in Primary Health Care. She is also a Lincoln College alumna having studied for an MSc in Applied Digital Health in 2022 where she researched climate health technologies. Kathryn’s current research explores the health and wellbeing of refugees in rural areas of Australia. Her wider interests include improving person-centred care and addressing health inequities for marginalised groups. Alongside her clinical and research work, Kathryn is also a lecturer at Griffith University’s School of Medicine and Dentistry in Australia, and Deputy Chair of the Board at Canteen, Australia’s leading youth cancer charity with over 650 staff and volunteers supporting young Australians living with cancer.

Robert McDonald is pursuing a DPhil in Mathematics, where he works across disciplines to use applied mathematics to better communicate data. A 2023 Kennedy Scholar, Robert spent a year as a Visiting Fellow in Applied Mathematics within the Computational Science and Engineering laboratory at Harvard, continuing his research on multi-scale mathematical modelling. His discussion at this year’s panel will address the role of modelling in public policymaking.
